Craig Wich has been teaching voice and the performing arts since 1979. A member of the faculty at The Boston Conservatory of Music since 1989, he is also a founding director of the nationally-renowned The Opera Laboratory Theater Company, and Founder/Artistic Director of the Craig Wich Studios of Performing Arts. His wide range of experience is focused in a well-balanced, organic approach to the development of voice and performing arts’ skills. In addition to teaching, Mr. Wich has performed and directed with such notable organizations as The Boston Lyric Opera, The Museum Of Fine Arts, Boston, Boris Goldovsky Opera and The Library of Congress.

Whether you are a seasoned professional or a beginner, a classical operatic performer or a pop diva, Mr. Wich can help you develop the mechanical and artistic skills necessary to reach your potential. He works with a vast array of singing and performing styles, and teaches at all levels. He is especially interested in the integration of music, theater and movement. Many of Mr. Wich’s students have achieved both national and international recognition in opera, musical theater and other popular venues. They perform regularly at the Metropolitan Opera, on Broadway, and as recording artists.

Mr. Wich’s intuitive, nurturing teaching style creates an environment in which his students can grow at the pace they choose. Though technically based, his methods combine a unique balance of technique and artistry to produce a totally integrated performance instrument. His students find him to be an impassioned teacher, whose energy, wit and talent for teaching is highly motivating.

Mr. Wich is equally versed in opera, musical theater and the dramatic arts. He has both performed in and directed numerous works of traditional repertoire, operas, plays and musicals, as well as new works and experimental pieces. Mr. Wich is an avid poet, essayist and playwright. As a playwright, he has written and directed two original plays for PLAYWORKS at Boston University. Additionally, Mr. Wich was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to write an original American opera. The result was the opera “Hostage”, which premiered at the Boston Fringe festival in 2007 to enthusiastic audiences and reviews.
